Pseudotropheus crabro is living in rocky areas and it can be found all around the lake. This variant can be found near Chimwalani Reef. The males of these species can grow to about 12 cm in the lake. In the aquarium however they can grow taller because of a good feeding. The males can then grow to about 16 cm, females grow to about 13 cm. Pseudotropheus crabro is a quiet, peaceful cichlid, mutual and against other species they are very tolerant. They can be hold best with multiple females and other mbunas in a tank with enough swimming space and hiding places. In the lake they are feeding themselves with everything they can find. Mainly they keep themselves busy with cleaning the catfish Bagrus meridionalis, which they clear from parasites. In the aquarium they are comfortable with any food. They take everything they get offered, like spirulina pellets, artemia, mysis and shrimp-peas mix. |
